The Lid Drawer FAQ: saving, sign-in, offline play, sound and ads

Answers to common questions about The Lid Drawer: where progress is saved, moving to a new device, playing offline, sound, ads and resetting.

Answers to common questions about The Lid Drawer beyond the puzzles. For help with the game itself, start with how to play.

Is The Lid Drawer free?

Yes. The whole game is free to play in your browser, with no download, no account and no purchases. It is supported by a small number of ads, described below.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The game runs in any modern web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Open the site and press Start. On most phones you can also add it to your home screen from the browser's share or menu options, so it opens like an app.

Where is my progress saved?

Your progress is saved in the browser you play in, on that device. That includes which levels you have unlocked, your stars and best times, your Mystery Bin, your keys and your Lid Finders. You do not need to do anything; it saves as you play.

Because it lives in the browser, clearing your site data, playing in a private window, or switching browser or device leaves it behind. The next answer explains how to keep it.

How do I keep my progress on a new phone or after clearing my browser?

Tap Sign in on the home screen. You have two options, and both are optional:

The game reminds you about this a few times as you clear milestone levels, only while you are not signed in. Once you are signed in, the button shows that your progress is saved.

What happens if I play on two devices?

When you are signed in, the game syncs your progress between devices, and the game combines them, so you keep the furthest you have reached on either one. You do not have to pick one device and stick with it.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Open the Sign in dialog while signed in and choose Delete account. That removes the copy stored with us. Your progress stays in the browser you are using unless you also reset it. Our privacy policy explains what is stored and why.

Can I play offline?

Yes, once you have opened the game at least once while online. After that it works with no connection: on a plane, underground, or anywhere your signal drops. A short notice tells you when you are offline. Your progress keeps saving on the device, and if you are signed in it syncs again when you are back online.

How do I turn the sound off?

Tap the speaker button to mute or unmute. The game remembers your choice.

Does the game pause if I switch apps?

Yes. Switch to another tab or app mid-level and the game pauses, stopping the kitchen timer. The back button in the corner also pauses, with options to resume, restart or return to the menu.

What kinds of ads are there?

There are three, and we keep them light:

There are no ads in the middle of a level.

How do I start over?

At the bottom of the home screen, tap Reset progress, then tap again within a few seconds to confirm. This erases your levels, stars, Mystery Bin, keys and Lid Finders on that device and starts you back at level 1. It cannot be undone, so only do it if you really mean it. If you are signed in, the reset also replaces your saved copy, so your other devices start over too. If you are signed out, only that browser is reset, and signing in again later brings your saved progress back.

Can I replay old levels?

Yes. Open Levels from the home screen to see every unlocked level, grouped by chapter with your stars, and tap one to replay it. Only your best result is kept. New levels never run out; the chapters guide has the full tour.

Who makes the game, and how do I get in touch?

The Lid Drawer is made by Always Blue Software LLC, a small independent studio in Georgia, USA. You can reach us at info@absftw.com with questions, bug reports or ideas. The terms of use and privacy policy cover the details.

If your question is answered, the drawer is waiting: jump back in whenever you like.
